Claudia Carroll

Thanks for wanting to know a little bit more about me – Claudia Carroll

I’ve been selling real estate full-time right here in the Tyler Texas area since 1995, and I LOVE it!

I have been involved in real estate most of my life in some way or another.  How many people can say their real estate career started in high school?  Well, I can.  I was an army brat having moved all over the world and the eastern half of the United States when Dad retired while I was in middle school.  All the moving (3 times in one year!) has helped me realize what folks go through when they are uprooted and move to a strange city and that sometimes not all family members are on board for the transition!

I thought I wanted to be a vet when I grew up so I took a veterinary course in high school that required me to be in the Future Farmers of America program.  I had a knack for land judging (does that make me judgmental?) and ended up the first girl that ever competed in the Alabama State finals.  And yes I am dating myself – it was the 70’s!  I will also have to confess that it was the first time in a number of years that my high school didn’t win either!  I worked my way through college working for two different companies that did mass appraisals for state property taxes then worked directly for the Coffee County Tax Assessor running their property tax division.

After getting a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of South Alabama, Rick and I married and moved to Texas.  I ended up going into the engineering field (psychology to engineering? I know it doesn’t make sense but then again, we are talking about me!) and had a very successful career.  I loved the people I worked with but not the frustrations and budget cuts of working for a governmental agency.  Our son, Aaron, was 7 at the time and my frequent trips for TxDOT had negatively impacted him, so I decided to quit and just be a mommy for a while.   I had a blast being homeroom mom, art mom, Sunday school teacher, youth leader and Cub Scout leader - everything revolving around Aaron – we had a ton of fun!  Rick was working for the power company at the time and unfortunately was injured to the point that they put him on disability.  That meant I had to go back to work.

A dear friend and our family attorney, John Berry, suggested I get my real estate license.  Through what I know to be the hand of God, I was able to start taking real estate classes that very evening.  The rest, as they say, is history!

I am passionate about the real estate business and the people involved.  I think my personality is perfectly suited to it!  The details, the people, the problems – I thrive on it all!  I have done hundreds of transactions for residential, farm and ranch and even a few commercial deals and have grown in knowledge and experience through every one of them.  I have enjoyed the respect of my peers as well.
